High School Band Camp Students will have camps at the end of their 8th grade year for high school band. Plan vacations around these camps to be successful in marching band. Mini Camp is usually from 8 a.m. to noon the week after school gets out. Sectionals usually occur occasionally in June and July with directors or student leadership. If you're in town, they'll be fun to do. Summer Band Camp starts the around last week of July with Freshman camp and is Monday-Saturday until school starts to prepare for the first football game performance. Being at this camp is vital. Do not plan vacations after the last week of July. DeLay Band Camps The DeLay Band Camp #1 will be June 13-17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All DeLay Band students are encouraged to attend. The tuition is $30 to pay for snacks and lunch for the 5-day camp. Students may bring their own food and attend for free. We will play solos, duets, small ensembles, full band music, compose songs, and in between many music sessions will break soccer, basketball, ultimate Frisbee and pizza lunch. There will not be a concert at this camp. The DeLay Band Camp #2 will be August 8-12, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All DeLay Band students are encouraged to attend. The tuition is $40 to pay for snacks and lunch for 4 days of camp and the 5th day we will go to Amazing Jake's. We will perform a concert and have a band parent meeting on August 12 at 6 p.m. Students may bring their own food and only pay $15 to go to Amazing Jake's. The DeLay Honor Band Camp is August 15-18 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will be preparing for a school performance on August 26th and all Honor Band Members are required to attend. Lone Star Clarinet and Trumpet Camps The Lone Star Clarinet Camp and Lone Star Trumpet Camp will be June 20-24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Private Lessons We have a wonderful staff of private lesson teachers that can teach your student weekly lessons. The tuition is $20 per lesson. We are looking at having lessons each Tuesday this summer at DeLay Middle School. Other Band Camps These camps are fun because students live in the dorms of the university and make new friends from all over the state. All of these camps are extremely successful and have made a huge impact on Texas music education for decades.
