Alicia DeSoto is announced as the new assistant band director at Lewisville High School! She worked with Mr. Meredith for 11 years, is a co-author of the Music Mastery method books, and has consistently achieved superior ratings at UIL. It's exciting to have my wife working in our cluster, and she'll be working at DeLay two days a week to help with the Honor Band.

APRIL 03, 2020

Greetings to the Lewisville High School Farmer Band Family,

It is with great pride and excitement that I extend this virtual ‘hello’ as incoming Director of Bands at Lewisville High School! My name is Chris Meredith, and I consider it the highest honor to have the opportunity to serve the LHS Band program in this role. I truly look forward to getting to know you all better in the coming weeks and months!

As a proud alumnus of Lewisville High School and former member of The Band That Marches With Pride, I know first-hand that the LHS Band program means a great deal to its student members, the campus, our district, and the broader Lewisville community. It is clear that the tradition of Farmer Pride is ever present and that the organization is comprised of dedicated and passionate student members. Most importantly, there is no question that the LHS Band is truly an extended family – something that means the world to all who have been a part of the program.

The Lewisville area has been my home for the past 35+ years. I was born and raised here and am a proud product of Lewisville ISD schools: Lakeland Elementary, Creekside Elementary, Hedrick Middle School and Lewisville High School. I completed my academic studies at the University of North Texas and Southern Methodist University, and I have served as an LISD band director for the duration of my teaching career. For the past thirteen years it has been my privilege to lead the band program at Shadow Ridge Middle School in LISD.

I am honored to call Dr. Marty Courtney a mentor, teacher, and friend. He has been an exceptional leader and has indelibly imprinted the LHS Band program during his tenure as Director of Bands. As we know, he will be leaving very big shoes to try and fill. As the LHS community celebrates Dr. Courtney’s storied career and impending retirement, we will also continue working tirelessly to further the legacy and tradition for which the LHS Band is known.

I look forward to leading The Band That Marches With Pride into the future and am privileged to have the opportunity to do so as a part of this very special musical community. My family and I are excited to meet you all in the near future!

With Farmer Pride,

Chris Meredith
