If you want to look on craigslist or other web pages, please speak with directors first. Buying an instrument that won't work is a waste of money and stressful for our kids.
Band Shirts
Band Shirts are included in the student's fees. Parents may order extras for $10.
Sync to personal calendars and toggle on and off to hide it. We will add dates to Canvas for students.
Syllabus / Grade Policies
Practice - We highly suggest that all band students practice 5 half hours a week as a minimum. The band hall is open at 7:10 for all students to practice before school and will stay open until 5:15 every day, so there is over 150 minutes of time available at school 5 days a week. Students may also take instruments home to practice. Every 30 minutes will earn a practice sticker on a wall chart and and every 5 stickers will earn a prize.
(60%) Objectives
Objectives - Students will practice and study until they master assigned music and concepts listed on their objective sheet. This may include theory, playing, binder organization and instrument maintenance.
(40%) Performances
Performances - The Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills requires students to perform multiple times throughout the school year. This is the most fun aspect of our program and necessary for development. Performances also include a few class tests. Honor Band Sectionals before school will include playing tests as well.
Sectionals
Weekly sectional rehearsals are a requirement for Honor Band. During sectionals, students will perform weekly pass offs for a grade. If a students misses a sectional, they make upload a recording of their assignment in Canvas for a make-up grade.
The weekly sectional schedule can be found HERE.
