WHAT: DeLay Middle School Band Solo and Ensemble Festival
WHO: MANDATORY for all DeLay Band members
WHERE: DeLay Middle School
WHEN: Saturday, May 11, 2024 - Your specific time is listed below

The DeLay Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held on Saturday, May 11 at DeLay Middle. Students will play their solos and/or ensembles in front of an expert musician for a rating. Students who receive a rating of I (the highest possible rating) or II (2nd highest rating) will receive an award certificate!

Friends and family are encouraged to attend and listen to the performance!
̄ Dress nicely! Please no jeans, athletic shoes, or shorts!
̄ Arrive about 20-30 minutes before your scheduled performance time.
̄ Warm-up in the Band Hall and go to your performance room about 5 minutes before your scheduled performance time.
̄ When the judge is ready, introduce yourself.

“Hello, my name is _______________. I will be playing__________ by ___________.”  

When you are finished, thank the judge for listening and you are DONE!

Playing a prepared solo at a festival is not only an important process for young musicians to go through, but it is a required skill as stated by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Fine Arts.
